La Mer celebrates the World Day of the Sea on June 8th 2014, introducing a new product in a limited edition – available during the months of May and June – in packs of 100 ml at the cost of 490 chf, and in particular La Mer will celebrate the valuable work promoted by the conservation of the species biologist Andrea Marshall.
Andrea Marshall had a great hope that is the humanity could understand how important it was to keep the sea in a healthy state. In this respect, also the general manager of La Mer, Sandra Main, said he hoped that through the efforts of his company even the next generation of women could actively support the preservation of the sea.
The Sea has been working for three years with the National Geographic Society and in the development of his campaign for the Day of the Sea was also inspired by the work of Dr. Sylvia Earle, with the aim of supporting and promoting the knowledge of it, turning this initiative in a message from the global significance, to emphasize once again the important role of the sea and marine biodiversity in the ecosystem.
In follow in the footsteps of the work done by Dr. Earle, Andrew Marshall is active in several research programs between the Southeast Asia, East Africa and South America, and in her work within the Marine Megafauna Foundation, has been able to discover two new species of manta rays.
The World Day of the ocean was introduced in 1992, and the UN has recognized particularly worthy of support in 2009, ruling that the same would be celebrated on 8th June each year: the purpose of the same is to know the importance of the sea as ecosystem and the delicacy of the balance for the conservation of animal species in its interior.
Until now, La Mer has raised $ 2 million to support the preservation of the ocean.
