The iconic Roger & Gallet soap with its rounded shape gets a makeover: yes, the soap that we usually find in pharmacies or some perfumeries has a more pop and colourful look.
Soap’s origins Roger & Gallet
Let’s step back in time to 1879: in its time, Roger&Gallet achieved legendary status with an innovative product, the round soap. This revolutionised the personal hygiene market, as at the time soaps were rectangular in shape; they were sold to the public in slices. Moreover, their fragrance was not entirely homogenous, as it was mainly infused in the centre of the bar of soap.
Roger & Gallet round soap is composed of fatty acids and very little water: a product made using an artisanal method, unchanged since its creation and with its own perfuming technique. Essential oils are added to the cooled soap paste to ensure a uniform and long-lasting fragrance. Four steps are required to produce the French brand’s legendary round soap.
- Mashing: melted fats and caustic soda are combined inside cauldrons to create the saponification reaction. After the ingredients have been well mixed, a phase is carried out in which the mixture is left to simmer for as long as 80 hours.
- Salting: excess soda and glycerine is removed.
- Depurazione: la pasta è lavata tante volte per ottenere una formula pura e pulita.
- Essiccazione: dopo aver raccolto la parte bianca del sapone si passa alla fase dell’essiccazione, profanazione e modellatura.
In 1889, the Roger & Gallet violet soap was the first round soap to win an award at the Universal Exhibition.
Soap Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge

The company kindly presented me with Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge soap. This soap, which is still made using the artisanal method I mentioned earlier, is really delicious.
The pop packaging featuring ‘plissé soleil’ paper is reminiscent of a skirt, just as seen in the product commercial. This personal hygiene product has been enriched with natural extracts of ginger, juicy mandarin and sparkling pomegranate, which give tone and stimulate a good mood. 97% of the ingredients in this soap are natural, EDTA-free, and have been dermatologically tested.
