Tiffany and co. watches Made in Switzerland

In the last days, reading the news online I discovered that Tiffany decided to relocate one of its subsidiary company in the city where I lived, Chiasso, and some days ago also the municipal institutions met the managers of the prestigious U.S. company Tiffany & Co.

This brand which has always been a benchmark for high quality standards in the jewelery world, has attempted on several occasions – tracting for a long time – to reach an agreement with the Swatch Group for providing it a license for the production of its watches : last year , however , this strategy has failed, from the moment the Swiss group has declined the proposal , and the U.S. company had to pay 440 and more million U.S. dollars.

After the company filed this ugly page, Tiffany has decided to invest itself for the realization of its own production facility, which operates strictly within Switzerland ( to be eligible for the title of Made in Switzerland on its watches ) to design and produce new ranges of watches.

With this new office in Chiass , the Tiffany & Co. – through its subsidiary Tiffany Switzerland Watch Company – will follow all the stages (from design , manufacturing to distribution ) on producting its watches to provide to its boutiques , which are currently 289 distributed in 25 different countries.

The presence of the U.S. company in Switzerland – with a site for the production of watches – isn’t really a new matter, considering that  in 1874 , Tiffany & Co. had with its factory near the Cornavin station in Geneva.
